T0day is the day after Christmas. Christmas was good for us. Unlike some, John and I have very relaxed Christmases. I think it's b/c we usually don't travel long distances and spend far too much time w/ family members who tell the same story over and over again (after all, I do that enough for John). We are lucky to be able to drive to both our parent's houses and come home that night.
For Christmas Eve, we go to my parent's house. My mom's family always has a big party on Christmas Eve that includes lots of food and chatting w/ family I don't usually see, except on Christmas Eve. This year, John had to work on Christmas Eve at the hospital I was born in, about 20 minutes from my parent's house. That meant he dropped me off at their house at 6am w/ our dog (anybody want a Husky?) and I had a really low key day (as in, I took 3 naps on my parent's couch during the day). Opening presents w/ my neice and nephew around was interesting (at one point, the 2 yr old was so excited, she starting ripping open someone else's gift), but gave me an insight into what our christmas' are going to be in a few years (after our little girl gets to the age where she will play w/ the toys and not the boxes and paper).
Christmas was equally easy going. John's parents came over and we ate far too much. We didn't go all out, but we had quite a spread.
Both of our parent's liked the gift we picked out for them, a framed picture of our little one taken a few weeks before (when we discovered we were having a little girl). Dad was nice enough to point out that it looks like she's got the Robert's big nose (he mentioned they may have to break her nose when she comes out).
As for our little girl, she's not even born yet, but she made out like a fat rat. My sister in law had saved all her kid's clothes for me and so she went through them and gave me a big box full of all her old girl clothes. We're very lucky to have such wonderful family and friends living near.
One thing this long weekend is good for, my husband has finally found the time to work on our bathroom. Hopefully by tomorrow evening I will have a shower. He's gotten it mostly done, and we're hoping to take a shower before church on Sunday. My job was to find a shower curtain and some non slip stickers for our tub. I did that and even managed not to fall asleep at Lowes (the one store that makes me exhausted just by walking thru the doors since my pregnancy).
I'm hoping the New Year will be as good as the Old Year. Yes it's been bumpy, but what's life w/out a little bumps? Boring, that's what.
